*National Day Of Prayer

The national Day of Prayer, the first Thursday of each May, will be Thursday, May 7.

Celebrations are planned at our Nations’ Capital, and in each state. Check online via any search engine for the NDP (National Day of Prayer) or contact Focus on the Family.

*TVPA Re-authorization Update

Thanks to so many of you who inquired about the TVPA re-authorization act. Here is the update!

The TVPA Act, also known as H.R. 7311, the William Wilberforce Trafficking Victims Protection Reauthorization Act of 2008 ( AKA. Wilberforce Act), is a trafficking victim bill designed to help those who have been trafficked, and also aids in prevention of trafficking, advocacy and education.

The U.S. Congress passed the reauthorization of H.R. 7311 unanimously. The bill was sent to President Bush for signature, December 12. You can view the bill online at:

A recent movie about his life was in theaters over the summer, entitled Amazing Grace.

*"Missing"

BBC News.com reports that thousands of women and girls from Assam, India are missing. Many have been found in city brothels, and in pornographic films.

Let's pray for world government reform against sex trafficking and prostitution. January is SHLM World Hunger Awareness Month. The world needs Jesus! Issues like this vividly

confirm that! Let's pray the world finds Jesus, and that they accept Him as Savior.

*On The Rise

A number of government and media outlets are reporting an alarming rise in handgun sales since the presidential election.

Although we are free under the U.S. Constitution to bear arms, we at SHLM are alarmed at this trend. And at the more alarming trend of increased sales of a number of types of automatic weapons.

Let's pray against street violence and crime. Purchased guns could fall into the hands of criminals. Media reports claim in some instances, law enforcement has met opposition on the streets from criminals carrying automatic weapons.
